RC028 The Transport Needs of Great Britain in the Next Twenty Years, 1963.
NEW DECEMBER 2013. A report to the Ministry of Transport by a group under the Chairmanship of Sir Robert Hall, 1963. It comprises 31 pages of text plus a total of three blank pages. The file sets these out exactly as in the original, and displays them as a two-page spread (though where a page required the book to be held sideways, that page is shown here in landscape format). It is word-searchable, and is provided with bookmarks for rapid access to the main sections.
The report does not focus solely on the carriage of passengers and freight by rail. It also considers the likely development of private car usage, public road transport and road haulage between then and 1983. There is an Introduction followed by sections on Inter-urban transport and what it calls the Urban Problem. It concludes with some general remarks and suggestions for further work. At the end are eight pages of statistics given in table form.
