RG049: The Broads, LNER 1920's.
NEW FEBRUARY 2022. This well-produced booklet consists of 24 pages and has card covers. It is undated but seems to have been issued some time in the 1920's. The strikingly plain front cover carries a coloured art-deco style picture of some sailing boats, and has an unusual early 'LNER' logo. The back cover proudly bears the legend 'London & North Eastern Railway of England & Scotland'.
Each page starts with an appropriate black-and-white photograph, followed by some concise but quite informative text.
A coloured map is folded into the back which is of much better quality than might be expected - it shows more than just the Broads and the railways which serve them. It is based on the Bartholomew quarter-inch map of the time and also depicts all roads, right down to the smallest. Off the coast the five and ten fathom 'contour' lines are included. The whole of Norfolk and much of Suffolk is covered - extending to Ely in the west and Newmarket, Bury and Framlingham in the south. The railways of the area, including the M&GN, are overprinted in black.
You will receive two files - one is the booklet, the other is the map. The file of the booklet is provided with bookmarks and is word-searchable. They will be available to download as soon as payment has been made. You go to your account and click on ‘Downloads’. New customers create an account as they place their order.
