MG020: 'Railways' - all twelve issues for 1945.
NEW JANUARY 2022. 'Railways' described itself as "The pictorial railway magazine". It first came out in 1939, continued through the War and was destined to become 'Railway World' in 1953.
Here you are offered all the twelve monthly issues for 1945 which make up volume 6. Each one is a slender booklet with a paper cover. Every issue contains 20 pages - the front cover, 16 pages of editorial content and three pages of advertisements. The year started under wartime conditions, but by the end both railways and advertisers were beginning to describe their post-war plans.
The scans were from a bound volume which fortunately retained all the covers and the adverts, but unfortunately did not include an index. Instead we have compiled a contents list which is added at the back of the file and may be seen HERE.
There are quite a few items of Great Eastern interest, notably a series of four articles by K A C R Nunn describing the GER Holden Jubilee 0-6-0T tank engines with some notes on their work, illustrated by several of his photographs. If that is all that you are after, we also offer those four articles on their own as file LM060.
The file here is word-searchable and has bookmarks to the separate issues. It will be available to download as soon as payment has been made. You go to your account and click on ‘Downloads’. New customers create an account as they place their order.
