MG014: 'Railways' - all twelve issues for 1947.
NEW APRIL 2021. 'Railways' described itself as "The pictorial railway journal". It first came out in 1939, continued through the War and was destined to become 'Railway World' in 1953.
Here you are offered all the twelve monthly issues for 1947 which made up volume 8. Each one is a slender card-covered booklet. There are 252 pages in total: 192 of these constituted the editorial material; another 12 were the front covers; and the remaining 48 were advertisements (which spread over both inside covers, the back cover and occasional extra pages that were added).
They include a three-part series entitled 'Memories of Cambridge 1925-1945', followed by some correspondence mainly about the branch to Kettering. The withdrawal of the original 'Claud Hamilton' was marked, and a photograph depicted a single-coach train for Coryton at the Corringham terminus.
The file is word-searchable and has bookmarks to the separate issues. It will be available to download as soon as payment has been made. You go to your account and click on ‘Downloads’. New customers create an account as they place their order.
