NEW JULY 2022.  This is the 126-page LNER (GE Section) Special Train Working Notices No. 960 for the week from Sunday 10 to Saturday 16 April 1927.  Good Friday was 15 April, so full details of the special arrangements for that day and for Easter Saturday are provided. In addition there are summaries covering the whole holiday period, particularly for through workings and for excursions to and from other companies' areas.

The other noteworthy inclusion is the hour's change marking the introduction of summer time, which happened early on Sunday 10 April.  The obvious consequence is the effect on the running of overnight trains, and those details of course feature. There were also other matters to consider, however - such as who was responsible for changing all the clocks at stations, offices and signal boxes, and recognition of the effect the occasion would have on the pay of workers whose shift included that lost hour.

As usual there are also a few pages dealing with a multitude of miscellaneous matters to be brought to the attention of staff. In this case there are for instance details of revised privilege ticket arrangements on the London Underground, instructions for the ending of steam heating on trains now the winter was almost over, and a warning to watch carefully who was in horse boxes on their way to races since they did not necessarily have valid tickets for the journey.

It seems that there is a single page missing from the end of the solitary available copy of the original document, but if so it is not possible to tell what information (if any) has been lost.
