NEW APRIL 2025. Jarrolds was both a publisher and a department store in Norwich. For many years they issued a rail and bus timetable covering Norwich and the country areas it served. This is the war-time one dated October-November 1944.

Its hundred pages include LNER and M&GN rail timetables for the lines in the area. Norwich city bus times are detailed, and so too are those of the bus routes in the county serving Norwich and Yarmouth (but only the Eastern Counties ones, not those of the smaller operators).

There are several period adverts, plus blackout times and a remarkable offer of free insurance against being killed as a passenger on a bus or train (so long as it wasn't due to enemy action!)

The original is in the possession of the Brewster Centre @ the Colne Valley Railway, and our thanks go to them for willingly agreeing we might offer them in our Files Emporium, and to our member Nick Ellis who supplied the scans to make it possible.
