LM074: From the Cab, 2019-2023.
NEW MAY 2024. 'The Driver' (he is anonymous) works for Greater Anglia at their Colchester depot. He drives trains over the GE main line from Liverpool Street to Ipswich as well as on the branches to Braintree, Sudbury, Clacton, Walton-on-the-Naze, Colchester Town and Harwich. In addition he is in the link which works the long route across the Fens from Ipswich to Ely and Peterborough.
His driving experience covers the old heritage units (such as those of classes 153, 156, 170, 321 and 360) and their modern replacements (classes 720 and 755).
Since 2019 he has written a monthly article for the Journal of the Ipswich Transport Society uinder the heading 'From the Cab'. With their kind permission and his enthusiastic cooperation, here you get the full text of the first fifrty articles. You can see the main topics they cover HERE. In this file these have been supplemented by some photographs he took depicting trains he was driving. Those illustrated articles provide you with over seventy pages of fascinating reading.
You get 137 pages in total for your money. One extra is a set of notes describing each of the classes of unit mentioned, accompanied by a picture whenever one was available. This should be of general interest, and prove particularly helpful if you are not fully familiar with them.
A final big bonus is a complete recent edition of the Ipswich Transport Society Journal. This includes one extra entertaining example of 'From the Cab', showing you the context in which these articles have appeared.
