RG060: On Either Side in East Anglia, LNER.
NEW OCTOBER 2023. The 1930s LNER booklet 'On Either Side' describing locations passed on the East Coast Main Line to Scotland crops up quite frequently on the second-hand market. The item offered here, the equivalent publication for journeys in East Anglia, is far rarer and most people are probably unaware one was produced. This implies fewer copies were sold, and indeed the LNER may have had a job even giving them away - the copy scanned had its price of threepence marked on the back cover overprinted with the word 'GRATUITOUS'!
It covers both routes from Liverpool Street to Norwich Thorpe, via Ipswich and via Cambridge, as well as the East Suffolk line and Ely to Kings Lynn. Also ncluded are the branches to Hunstanton, Sheringham and Cromer, Yamouth Vauxhall, Lowestoft, Felixstowe and Brightlingsea. Unfortunately one page is missing from the sole available copy which would have featured Clacton on one side and Harwich on the other.
Each page consists of a strip map down the middle for the section of line being covered. Stations are marked, with their mileage from each end of the route, and junctions shown where other lines branch off. Selected text and photographs are added on the left and right of the page.
The file is word-searchable and has bookmarks to its main sections. It will be available to download as soon as payment has been made. You go to your account and click on ‘Downloads’. New customers create an account as they place their order.
