TW062 BR(E) Section N Suburban Working Timetables 1948
NEW JULY 2020. From 27 September 1948, both passenger and freight. Click here to see a map of the coverage - note that the lines included are just the ones indicated with a letter 'N': those marked only with a different letter are not in this timetable.
The passenger services included are the main line out as far as Chelmsford and these branches: Shenfield to Southend; Wickford to Southminster; and Woodford to Epping and Ongar. The Fenchurch Street service plus horse box traffic from Liverpool Street to New Cross Gate and Barking are there too.
The freight services are listed separately. As well as the passenger lines there are further tables which cover Temple Mills, Little Ilford and Ripple Lane; Goodmayes and Grange Hill; Messrs. Compton & Co's siding at Chelmsford; New Cross Gate; and freight trains to other regions via Victoria Park.
The 214-page timetable concludes with working notes for suburban freight trains, times when they are prohibited in the district, shunting and pilot engines and route availability of locomotives.
