RC046 Dealing with Claims from Customers, BR 1956.
NEW JANUARY 2019. This is a 12-page booklet issued by the British Transport Commission in April 1956, under their reference number BR20711. Its full title is "Notes for the Guidance of Staff dealing with Claims on Traffic conveyed by Goods and Passenger Train Services".
The four main sections are headed 'Conditions of Carriage', which provides an overview of the railway's liabilities; 'Claims Enquiries and Correspondence', giving guidance on dealing with a member of the public who has a grievance; 'Inspection and/or Testing of Amounts Claimed', to check on the validity of a claim; and 'Claims Prevention', to try to avoid such situations arising.
