RH099: Royal Trains, C J Allen 1953.
NEW JANUARY 2025. This is a 40-page book published in 1953. It gives an account of railway travel by our royal family from the earliest days up to that date. It is well illustrated with 48 black-and-white photographs.
Chapters include routines observed when royalty travels; royal saloons of Victorian days; Queen Victoria's railway travels; twentieth century royal saloons; royal funeral trains; and record runs with royalty. There is a photo-feature on the modern royal train, and travel abroad is also discussed.
