DS013 GER Freight Train Frieze
NEW MAY 2012. The Society's educational project 'The Victorians' (in Section RH of the Emporium) includes as an extra activity some drawings suitable for a class to colour. One group of these comprises black and white side views of a GER locomotive and six different goods wagons which will each print on to an A4 sheet of paper all at the same scale. The rolling stock consists of a GER brake van, open wagon, timber wagon, ale truck, wool wagon and gunpowder van.
The idea is that each member of the class should be given one of these to colour, then they could be joined up to produce a frieze of a GER freight train for display. To achieve this each sheet would need to be trimmed down in line with the buffers at one end and then one of the dangling couplings between each pair of vehicles should be Tippexed out.
It has been suggested that others might enjoy this too, so the activity is being offered separately here. The PDF drawings will be downloaded in a zipped folder. Depending on your software you should then be able to access them by right-clicking on that folder to get a menu and choosing 'Unzip...' or 'Extract all...'.
The original activity provided a passenger locomotive to head the train - not strictly accurate, of course, but it was felt a blue colour would look nice! Anyone purchasing it here is likely to be more demanding so two additional locomotives are supplied: a Y14 (J-15) and a G58 (J-17).
The folder will be available to download as soon as payment has been made. You go to your account and click on ‘Downloads’. New customers create an account as they place their order.
