RE034 Automatic Train Control between Fenchurch Street and Shoeburyness, BR 1950
NEW JANUARY 2016. This booklet was published by British Railways Eastern Region in February 1950. Its full title is "Description of Automatic Train Control on the Fenchurch St. to Shoeburyness Section".
It explains the purpose of the installation, what it did and how it worked. It describes the apparatus on the ground, in the signal box and on the engine. It then deals with its regular maintenance and testing. The text is accompanied by four low-grade photographs and by two drawings, one showing the arrangement for steam locomotives equipped with the vacuum brake and the other showing the engine and track equipment and its circuitry.
The booklet consists of 12 pages, shown here as two-page spreads, followed by the two drawings. The file is word-searchable.
