RE030 BR Electrification to North Woolwich 1985
NEW NOVEMBER 2014. The North Woolwich branch was electrified on the third rail principle at 750V d.c. in 1985. This is a typescript document of 60 pages (a few of which are blanks) intended for the training of all staff involved.
It includes detailed definitions of terms ('impedance bond', 'dead section' and the like). There are full safety instructions, and rules to be followed when maintaining the track. Problems associated with flood, ice and snow are considered, with a particular reference to flooding in Silvertown Tunnel. The isolation and communication procedures in the event of an emergency are covered.
