Renewing your subscription

RENEWALS FOR 2026/27 ARE DUE FROM 1ST APRIL 2026

Subscriptions are due on 1st April each year. This entitles you to 4 issues of the Journal and News. There are several ways to pay for your subscription renewal:-

  1. Standing Orders are an efficient method to ensure you don't forget to renew your membership and they also significantly ease the work of the Membership Secretary and Treasurer. A form for setting up a Standing Order is here:  pdf Standing Order(183 KB) Send this to your bank, but it can help the society if you let us know you have done this by using this form. (Please note, we do not support Direct Debits, only Standing Orders)
  2. You can renew via Paypal (including any credit or debit card), by using the online form here. (Should you have previously sent your renewal at the old rate of £20/£27.50, you can also use this form to top up to the current rates). DO NOT try to send a Paypal payment direct to an e-mail address - we can only accept Paypal payments through our payment forms.
  3. You can alternatively pay by card via Nochex here.
  4. You can pay by cheque, sent through the post to the Membership Secretary, using this  pdf Renewal Form(151 KB) .
  5. You can pay by direct bank transfer (Internet banking) - details are provided here.
  6. You can also pay by cheque or cash at the Society's AGM.

Gift Aid can significantly increase the value of your subscription to us, or any donations you make, so please consider completing the Gift Aid declaration

Internet Explorer 8 problems

Unfortunately, the PayPal website is incompatible with the Internet Explorer 8 browser. The Society regrets this, but the situation is wholly outside our control. To be able to complete payment of your order, you must use either an older browser like Internet Explorer 7, or, if you are using Vista or Windows 7 operating systems, upgrade to Internet Explorer 9, which does not seem to have the same problems that IE8 has. Another option is to install an alternative browser such as Firefox or Google Chrome. Downloading and installing Firefox or Chrome is simple and will take only a few minutes. You do not have to remove Internet Explorer from your computer.

You may be worried that installing a new web browser will somehow adversely affect all your Internet settings, but this is not the case. You can have more than one web browser available and you can choose which one to set as your default browser. If your choose to stay with Internet Explorer as your default browser, then Firefox will appear via Start / All Programs. Click on it to launch it. You will probably find it useful to put a shortcut to it on your screen and even drag a copy of that shortcut to your Quick-Launch bar at the bottom of the screen. When the new browser opens, use it to proceed to www.gersociety.org.uk and place your order.
