Advance Notice of the 47th Annual General Meeting of the GERS


The 47th AGM of the GERS will be held at 13.30 on Saturday 21st March 2020 at the Adult Community Learning Bishops Hill, Poplar Drive, off Rayleigh Road, Hutton, Brentwood CM13 1BD but we hope as many members as possible will attend the full programme from 10.30.

Nominations for the posts of Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer plus the four other members of the Executive Committee must be made in writing and received by the Secretary before 7th March 2020.

The planned programme for the day is as follows (SUBJECT TO CONFIRMATION):

09.30 Meeting opens. Time to buy GERS sales items, second hand books/ magazines/ videos and ephemera.

10.25 Our Chairman opens the meeting.

10.30 Presentation by Steve Beamon “The History of the British Transport Police Part 2 from 1948”.

12.00 Lunch Interval. Sales stands open, raffle tickets.

13.15 Society Announcements followed by the presentation of the Harry Jones Award followed by the 47th AGM.

Tea, coffee, & biscuits will be available during the day, second hand books/ videos/ DVDs/ magazines and GER paperwork will be on sale and Barry Jackson will be selling and taking orders for items from the GERS Sales List.

The Adult Community Learning building is situated off of the Rayleigh Road, Hutton in Poplar Drive. There is a large car park at the venue, with level access into the hall.

Public transport: The nearest railway station is Shenfield with a 10-15 minute walk to the venue. There is only one bus route (81) which runs hourly from Shenfield Station. See website for times.

Walking to venue : Leave the station turn right past the BP petrol station, the Hutton Pub and continue up the hill for about 10 minutes and you will find the venue on the left just before traffic lights.

GETTING THERE BY TRAIN: (As at January 2020)

From Liverpool Street and Stratford there are at least four fast trains an hour (Greater Anglia)

Crossrail trains from Liverpool Street and all stations to Shenfield run every 10 minutes.

Train services from Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester and Chelmsford. Check the Greater Anglia website.

 

IMPORTANT . Before travelling by train check Network Rail and TfL’s web-sites for Engineering Work affecting your journey that may/ will involve bus replacement services.
