Are you with me so far? The last part of Canfield is the branch line that leaves the main line in the dark attic space beyond Rayning Station at the end of Part 2.  The branch emerges from a small overbridge (tunnels being very scarce on the GE) and descends steeply.


Low Street yard at Canfield is a fan of five sidings and two engine roads. A slightly blurred overview:


The sidings serve a coal yard, Thorogoods Mill (Sudbury) and a timber dock. A strange green engine lurks, but the destination board gives it away.


Busy times. Horses prepare to shunt.


Rather a lot of blue tank engines on shed. The backscene is another story of searching for EA buildings and hand-painting the clouds.


That's it!  This layout has hugely drawn on the photography and drawings in the GEJ for prototypes, settings, scenery and authenticity. In due course I will post (in other parts of the Forum) on some of the specifically GER challenges mentioned above.
