For enthusiasts and researchers of the Great Eastern Railway

The entry in the recent GE News remains broadly accurate.

The new set of DVDs of all the issues of the Locomotive Magazine from its start in January 1896 right through to December 1923 (£10 for members) is now listed in the Files Emporium, where you can learn much more about it.  You will find it here.  The DVDs themselves have not yet been produced (I spent last Saturday in the library of the University at Leicester copying missing pages and issues!), but they will be ready by the time of the meeting.

We also have new Information Sheet M516 (£1.50) which describes the arrangements for the introduction of an overnight freight service in 1955 from Ipswich to Cardiff, linking East Anglia with South Wales and the South West for goods in full wagon loads. To find its equivalent there, enter 'M516' in the search box for the Files Emporium and click the button marked with a magnifying glass. You will be able to read more about it and, if you prefer, purchase the file instead for 70p.

There are also the five new sets of minutes summaries, as described, covering the GER Traffic Committee from January 1893 to December 1900.  In the Emporium you can purchase them all now in the file similar to the one on the CDs - to locate it put any of their numbers in the search box (M512 will do).

To finish with my usual reminder, if you are coming to the Meeting and wish for any of the past Information Sheets or back numbers of the Journal or News, you must inform me in advance so I can bring them along.
