I can recommend The Ipswich Transport Society Journals 1959-2020 which are available via. the Files Emporium.(DVD or download)
Slightly outside your period but they give excellent reports on train movements etc., In particular recommend the 'Life as a Commuter' articles by Graham Hardinge which commence in the April 1968 issue. Much information on stock used, platforms services used etc. and much more about the commuter services at that time.

A side note: In a previous version of Train Simulator I helped make a model of Cambridge, which is recorded on the cambslines.ivimey.org website.

I would encourage you to record your efforts likewise (video & still) as keeping up to date with the simulator proved beyond our abilities.
