SG058 Signalling Diagrams from some M&GN Locations
NEW SEPTEMBER 2017. The signalling diagrams have been hand-drawn by our late member John Bennett, from maps accompanying Board of Trade Reports produced after inspections which followed changes in the layout. These he consulted at the National Archives at Kew.
He was very happy to make them available to all who may be interested, and we are grateful for that.
There are five plans in all. Three are from Yarmouth and date to 1903. The first one covers Yarmouth Beach station. The second shows the signal boxes at Salisbury Road and Nelson Road, on the way out to Melton Constable and out to Lowestoft via the brand new Norfolk and Suffolk Joint respectively. The third covers the box at Caister Road Junction, where the branch to the quay tramway diverged from the line to Lowestoft.
The other two are of Melton Constable in 1907 and cover the approaches to each end of the station - Melton East and Melton West.
