RH057 Facts about Britain's Railways 1942
NEW FEBRUARY 2018. This is a little-known publication in the same series as RH056, but with one huge difference: that one gave facts about the railways of Britain in 1936, but this one deals with wartime conditions in 1942. The difference between them is fascinating.
It is a small 40-page card-covered booklet produced jointly by the four main railways of the UK. The only illustration is a wrap-round photograph spreading over the front and back covers, which shows tanks being loaded on to a train. There is a page in the file which displays the complete photograph.
The topics this time include government control, feeding war factories, central wagon control, fire-fighting engines and trains, awards for gallantry and much more. The accounts are brief but informative.
The file is word-searchable and has bookmarks to the main sections. It will be available to download as soon as payment has been made. You go to your account and click on ‘Downloads’. New customers create an account as they place their order.
