TW078: Summary of Train Workings through Stratford, LNER 1941.
NEW DECEMBER 2023. This must be quite a rarity to have survived - a working timetable from the time of the War. Doubtless very few such publications would have escaped being recycled. This copy is in the possession of the Brewster Centre @ the Colne Valley Railway, and our thanks go to them for willingly agreeing we might offer it in our Files Emporium, and to our members Nick Ellis and Bill King who made it possible.
It applied from 6 October 1941 'until further notice'. It summarises all train workings thorough Stratford - passenger, empty stock and freight - on Mondays to Saturdays. Movements on Sundays are not included.
The 35 pages of tables are divided into three parts: every weekday until 10 am; Modays to Fridays from 10 am until midnight; and Saturdays from 10 am until midnight.
Each page is arranged in a similar way. The timing points are Liverpool Street, Spitalfields; Mile End; (Fenchurch Street, recessed); Bridge box; Western Junction; and Stratford. There is a table for down trains, and below that is one for up trains during that period of time. Intended running lines are shown, and so too is the destination or origin of each train.
The file is word-searchable and we have added bookmarks to the three sections. It will be available to download as soon as payment has been made. You go to your account and click on ‘Downloads’. New customers create an account as they place their order.
