TO053: Train Ferries from Zeebrugge and Dunkerque, LNER and SR c. 1937.
NEW JANUARY 2021. This is a sixteen-page booklet entitled 'Train Ferries for Trade with the Continent', undated but believed to be from about 1937. It was aimed at companies who might be persuaded to make use of the service, and was produced jointly by the LNER and the SR.
It has a lovely Art Deco coloured cover. As well as informative text describing things such as the wagons, the steamers and arrangements at the ports, there are a dozen black and white photographs. At the end is a map of Britain and Europe, showing the routes over which a through truck service was offered. There are also rather small dimensioned drawings of six types of wagons used.
Thanks are due to our member Steve Cochrane who was happy to share this item in his personal possession with others, and who provided the scans.
