TW056: LNER Working Timetable for the GE area Section A, September 1928.
NEW OCTOBER 2019. This is from the LNER working timetable dated 24 September 1928 for its Eastern Area, which equates to the old GER. We thank the LNER Society for willingly making it available from their Archive, so it now becomes accessible to all who are interested.
It is in four parts, none of which relate to the suburban services. This is Section A (the other three parts are available as TW057, TW058 and TW059). The principal contents of this Section are the main lines in the western part of the area.
Its 100 pages include tables between London and Ely; Ely and Norwich; March, Lincoln and York (Eastern Area passenger trains only); Ely, March and Peterborough North; Ely, Downham and Lynn; Lynn and Hunstanton; Whitemoor, Pyewipe Junction and beyond (freight); and Peterborough East and Benwick. There are summaries of GN Section and LMS trains at Cambridge, and arrivals and departures at Peterborough East.
Details of many special workings follow, such as fish traffic from Grimsby. Shunting turns are listed, and so too are all signal boxes on the lines covered with their times of opening.
We have provided bookmarks to the main sections. The file will be available to download as soon as payment has been made. You go to your account and click on ‘Downloads’. New customers create an account as they place their order.
