NX051 Partial Index to GE-related items in the Railway Magazine
NEW AUGUST 2015. A partial index to GE-related topics appearing in the Railway Magazine. Twenty-five complete volumes are covered: these are Volumes 80 and 81 (both 1937), 84 to 90 (1939 to 1944), and 100 to 115 (1954 to 1969).
Major articles are of course included. So too are photographs, usually with the locomotive number and the location given. In addition many briefer references are there, such as those from Notes and News or Pertinent Paragraphs. The page number is provided in each case.
Overall the information appears to be very comprehensive. Thus the first eight entries for 1937 are 8501 in Scotland ACFI; Manchester to Harwich train times; Stratford loco notes B12 & J15; Proposed new signalling on Chingford line; Improvements on Felixstowe branch; Photos 8851 nr. Brandon; 7108 nr. Bethnal Green 8244 nr. Roudham Junc; 8855 nr. Marlesford; GE trains to York (note); and Embankment at St. Ann’s Rd. Altogether for the first six months of 1937 there were 27 entries in all.
This index was compiled by our one-time member, the late Geoff Pember. His original handwritten version has been transcribed for us by Graham Kenworthy. It is word-searchable.
