RH006 GER Jubilee Dinner 1912
Colour scans of the menu and toast list for the Jubilee Dinner on Monday 15 July 1912. Also included is a full list of the guests plus summaries of the speeches from the report in the Railway Times of 20 July 1912. Lord Claud Hamilton made some interesting remarks concerning recruitment from within the staff, in the context of Henry Thornton's appointment as general manager less than two years later. Various references to labour relations and to possible staff benefits also shed a light on the period. The last two pages comprise references to reports in the Railway Times from 1862 concerning the formation of the Great Eastern Railway.
