File (a) is a five-page illustrated account of the railway from the June 1929 Railway Magazine, when the railway had just closed. (An earlier account from the May 1899 issue, when the line was in its heyday, is also available as file MG002.)

The railway had opened in September 1879, and in 1979 Southwold organised some events to mark its Centenary. File (b) is the handbill for this, and file (c) is a 20-page souvenir booklet produced for the occasion. After an introduction by the Town Mayor accounts follow of the railway, its opening day and its closing day. The line is described in four sections, each accompanied by an informative pictorial map. The booklet concludes with a description of the remaining trackbed and walks in 1979 - this section has a few pencilled suggested corrections added in the margin. There are plenty of local advertisements. No author is credited with the work.

There was a special first day cover issued on the actual day of the Centenary. File (d) shows this with the recipient's name and address removed, and both sides of the card which was sent in the envelope.

The Southwold Railway Company itself was not wound up until as late as 1988, and file (e) consists of two small cuttings from the Eastern Daily Press of 23 November of that year relating to this.
